Delhi: Food Capital of India

It caters to all kinds of public with delicious food delicacies and mouth watering tastes and flavors all over the city. From road side hawkers to in house cafes and five star hotels, we have it all. Just name your favorite and Delhi has an entire lane famous for it. Listing out the various delicious food outlets that you can explore in your visit to Delhi, the otherwise, boring city one may consider.
1. A Family Afternoon: Om Sweets
This place is a hub for families, and serves the north Indian, Chinese and tandoori food items which mouth watering sweet dishes in pure ghee. Some of the items that are a must at this place are Channa Bhatura, Amritsari Naan, Raj Kachori, Tandoori Platter, Puri Sabzi, Jalebi and Rasmalai.
2. Sita Ram Diwan Chand
If you have visited Delhi but not tasted Chole Bhature, well you are missing out on life. This famous place in Paharhganj is known for it’s Chole Bhature. It is the only Chhole Bhature Shop, where you are required to stand in a que and await your turn. It is a famous Vegetarian Chhole Bhature shop in Multani Dhanda, Paharganj Area of New Delhi. A must to visit place for morning breakfast at most affordable rates.
3. Odeon Social
Situated by the iconic Odeon cinema, this restro-bar has a super innovative theme. Be prepared to experience big time nostalgia, as you go #BackToSchool with Odeon Social. With it’s high school themed interiors, ambience, props and even utensils, Odeon Social has a lot more to offer in terms of food as well.
Coming from the house of Social Offline, the menu is more or less the same that you’d find at other Social Outlets. However, the whole idea of dining amidst such innovative and quirky school themed interiors, you party is surely going to rock.
4. Old Delhi
All our favorite chat items, from Papri Chaat and Dahi Bhalla to Jalebi, originated in Old Delhi.
Old Delhi is a popular hub for street food, authentic Mughlai cuisine, and sweets. If you really want an authentic experience with typical north Indian street food, Old Delhi is a must-visit.
Some of our recommendations are Khemchand Adesh Kumar’s Daulat Ki Chaat, Lotan Chole Wala, Jung Bahadur Kachori Wala, and Shree Balaji Chaat Bhandar and Bishan Swaroop for the best chaat you will ever have.
5. Paranthe Wali Gali
If you’re a vegetarian, Paranthe Wali Galli is a must-visit. You’ll find several shops that serve delicious paranthe, hot and fresh, in an array of styles. These shops, many of which are still operating, have been established for over 50 years.
A number of celebrities, politicians, and businessmen also visit this popular spot.
6. Khan Market
Located at the center of Delhi’s food district, Khan Market has everything from cafes to fine dining options to fast food. You can find some of the city’s best bars and restaurants in this vibrant neighborhood, whose streets waft with the smell of mutton kebabs and fried rice.
Some of the best restaurants in the area include The Big Chill, Yellow Brick Road Restaurant, Wok in the Clouds, Azam’s Mughlai, and Cafe Turtle.
7. Jama Masjid
A visit to Delhi is incomplete if you are a core non vegetarian and have not visited the Jama Masjid. There is some outstanding non-vegetarian street food in Delhi near Jama Masjid and Bazaar Matia Mahal across the street. A foodie’s paradise, this area offers everything from keema samosas to grilled boti to kebabs and jalebi.
8. North Campus
It doesn’t matter if it’s street food, snack food, fast food, or multi-cuisine diners you’re looking for, North Campus has plenty to offer.
It is an area where there are numerous options for delicious food, since it is a college area. Try Momo’s Point, Bille Di Hatti, Chache Di Hatti, Shagun Asian Eatery, Bamboo Hut, and South Indian Cafe.
9. Netaji Subhash Place
The delicious milkshakes at Netaji Subhash Place are legendary. Besides that, this part of the city has both fast food and fine dining options.
The places we like the most in this area are BTW (for awesome chaat), Billu’s Hut, Sura Ve, Barbeque Nation, and Eleven Course.
10. Connaught Place
Delhi’s Connaught Place is the place to go for food, no matter what your budget is. Connaught Place is home to everything from fancy fine-dining restaurants to delicious local rajma chawal.
Connaught Place is an area where you can find restaurants of all kinds – both local and international – with the best cuisines in the city.
There are a few joints you must check out such as Kake Da Hotel, Parikrama, Jain Chawal Wale, and Minar.
