Alu ki Kadhi – Navratri Special

Navratri:

Navratri is the festival to celebrate 9 days with the energy of Goddess, “The Devi”. During these nine days, 9 forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped, and Hindus all over India fast during these 9 days and celebrate Navratri with great enthusiasm. Devotees of Goddess Durga keep strict fasting for these nine days to seek blessings of Maa Durga, there are certain rules to follow for these fasts and special recipes are there for these fasts so today we are sharing a very healthy yet delicious recipe for fasts i.e.”Alu ki Kadhi”. Alu ki Kadhi is one of the all-time favorite dish of most of the people during fasts as it is very easy to make and keep you full for 2-3 hrs. This is a dish of potato with some curd and very few ingredients.

Ingredients :

1/2 kg potato ( boiled )1/2 tsp water chestnut flour (Singhade ka atta)
2 tsp Himalayan pink salt( Sendha Namak)1/2 cup Curd
1-2 Kadhi Patta1/2 tsp cumin seeds
2 Green chilies1 tsp Chopped Ginger
2 tsp Kali Mirch(Black pepper) Ghee or Refined Oil
4 Cups Water2 tsp Coriander Leaves (Chopped)

Method :

  1. Mash the boiled potatoes in a big bowl.
  2. Mix sendha namak,chestnut flour,kali mirch powder with potatoes and form a thick batter.
  3. keep 1/4 of the batter aside.
  4. Take a deep fry pan and put ghee and start frying the pakoras of the batter prepared.
  5. Now in some other bowl add 1/4 of the batter left earlier with curd,water, to form very smooth paste.
  6. In some pan add 2 tsp of ghee heat it well.
  7. Add cumin seeds,curry leaves and saute well.
  8. Now add ginger,green chillies.
  9. Add the curd mixture .
  10. Put some water and boil it,turn the flame to low.
  11. Add some salt to the mixture.
  12. Now when the kadhi is thick enough add the pakoras .
  13. Simmer the flame.
  14. Your potato curry is ready, garnish it with some coriander leaves and serve hot.
