Twinkies American Snack Cake

Twinkies American Snack Cake

Origin :-

A Twinkie is an American snack cake described as “golden sponge cake with a creamy filling”. Twinkies is invented by James A. Dewar. He is a manager of the Continental Baking plant in Lllinois, concocted the Twinkies by filling a shortcake with a sugar and cream mixture. The name “Twinkie” is said to have been inspired by a billboard for “Twinkle Toe Shoes” near the bakery. Twinkies have been a favorite snack food in America for almost a hundred years and have also become a permanent part of American pop culture.

Ingredients :-

3 eggs1 tsp baking powder
2 cups granulated sugar1 tsp salt
3 tbsp of milk1 tbsp vanilla extract
Pinch oil

Directions :-

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F and adjust the oven rack to the lower-middle position.
  2. Separate egg whites and yolks into separate large bowls.
  3. Pour sugar, vanilla, baking powder, and salt until foamy about 3 minute.
  4. Gently stir until moistened and add the milk and mix until the batter is smooth and no lumps remain.
  5. Grease your pan and fill each depression a little more than halfway full with batter. Tap the pan gently on the counter a few times to remove any air bubbles from the cake batter & bake it for 10-15 minutes until the edges of each Twinkie begin to turn slightly golden.
  6. Cool cakes in pan for 10 minutes on a wire rack they will shrink and pull away from pan sides. Line wire rack with waxed paper and spritz paper lightly with baking spray. Invert pan to turn cakes out onto rack. Cool completely before cutting into Twinkie shapes and filling.
  7. While the Twinkies cool, combine the filling ingredients in a medium bowl. Stir until everything is blended evenly together and then transfer to a filling injector or a pastry bag fitted with a round tip.
  8. Insert the pastry tip into the Twinkie cake from the bottom, starting at one end and injecting the filling until the cake begins to bulge slightly.
  9. Once toward the middle and again at the opposite end. When finished, you should have three small holes brimming with filling on the bottom of each Twinkie.
  10. Store filled cakes in refrigerator in an airtight container for up to a week as with most sponge cakes, they really do taste better after resting overnight than if eaten fresh.
